Distracted Driving
Distracted driving is a leading factor in many crashes and is the number one killer of American teens. The highest incidence of distracted driving occurs in the under-20 age group. Today’s teens use technology more than ever and in 2009, 43 percent of American teens ages 16-17 said they have talked on a cell phone while driving and 26 percent have used text messaging while driving. Alcohol-related accidents among teens have dropped. But teenage traffic fatalities have remained unchanged, because distracted driving is on the rise.
